General H.R. McMaster was named national security advisor on Monday by President Donald Trump.
The president was joined by General McMaster at the announcement in a press conference atMar-a-Lago.
President Trump called McMaster "a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience."
Lastweek, the former national security advisor resigned.
Press reports claimed Michael Flynn had been in contact with Russian officials prior to the Trump administration taking office and then allegedly misled the Vice President about the nature of those discussions.
